Vietsovpetro starts oil field off Vietnam

JV Vietsovpetro has reported the start of production from Ca Tam (Beluga) oil field offshore Vietnam with commissioning of the CTC-1 wellhead platform.

The CTC-1 wellhead platform connects with the RP-2 wellhead platform on Dragon field, the reconstruction of which Vietsovpetro completed in December.

The Cuu Long basin field is on 6,000 square kilometre Block 09-3/12, which has water depths of 15-60 metres about 160 kilometres offshore.

Vietsovpetro operates the production sharing contract with a 55% interest. Partners are PetroVietnam Exploration & Production Corporation, 30%, and Bitexco Group, 15%.
