Vår commissions network improvements at Goliat field in the Barents Sea

Telenor Maritime has an agreement with Vår Energi to equip the Goliat field production facilities in the Barents Sea with 2G and 4G networks.

Asbjørn Skoge, Vår’s Barents Sea asset manager, said the arrangement would enhance network reliability on the field, with other offshore activities benefitting from improved safety and emergency response.

Installation of the equipment on the Goliat FPSO will start this spring and should be completed during the summer.

The coverage will extend to supporting vessels and other users, including fishing vessels, within a range of 70 kilometres (43.5 miles) of the Goliat field centre.

During production shutdowns for maintenance turnarounds or other activities, the network may be impacted, but the aim is to maintain uptime as high as possible.
