Swire Oilfield Services scoops Johan Sverdrup deal

Offshore container solutions specialist Swire Oilfield Services has been awarded a seven-figure contract with the Norwegian oil services company Aker Solutions related to the Johan Sverdrup field development off Norway.

Swire Oilfield Services said that the contract with Aker Solutions was for the provision of offshore workshops, offices, storage, x-ray, and toilet modules for the hook-up project on Statoil’s Johan Sverdrup platform in Stavanger.

According to the company, the project is expected to begin at the end of 2017 with a contract period of up to two years.

In January, Statoil, awarded contracts for the hook-up and commissioning work on the giant field to three Norwegian companies – Aker Solutions, Aibel, and Kvaerner.

More precisely, the contracts were given to Aibel and Aker Solutions, but Kvaerner would formally operate as a subcontractor to Aker Solutions on a contract which would bring the two companies approximately NOK 900 million, split evenly between the two.

The offshore hook-up phase is scheduled to be implemented in 2018 and 2019.

Regarding Johan Sverdrup, the development passed the halfway mark over the summer, and is now nearly 60 percent complete. The project’s cost has been reduced by NOK 5 billion to NOK 92 billion (US$11.8 billion).
