South Pars platform goes back online offshore Iran
Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) has re-started operations at the South Pars Phase 16 gas production platform in the Persian Gulf.
Production had to be shut down following damage to part of the offshore export pipeline in November 2019.
Following reconstruction and replacement of 32 km (19.9 miles) of the pipeline, production was restored last Friday, the 27th November.
POGC production and operations director Alireza Ebadi told news service Shana that the pipeline issue had led to numerous production stoppages several times, and replacement was necessary due to the possibility of further damage to the pipeline on the platform side caused by the HP/HT gas flow.
The platform has capacity to handle 500 MMcf/d of gas.
