Repsol starts Sagari gas field in Peru

Repsol has brought Sagari gas-condensate field on stream on Block 57 in Peru. The block’s production is expected to be quickly ramped up to 5.6 million cu m/day, equivalent to one fourth of Peru’s natural gas demand.

Sagari was discovered in 2012. Production is from Permian Upper and Lower Nia strata between 2,691 and 2,813 metres.

New production will lead to a 25% increase in Block 57 total output.

Repsol holds a 53.84% interest and is the operator. China National Petroleum Corporation holds the remaining interest.

Block 57 is east of the Andes mountain range in one of the most prolific gas production areas of Peru. The Repsol-operated Kinteroni field also is nearby. Kinteroni has produced since 2014.
