Osokey to further develop UK data repository

Britain’s Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) has named Osokey as a collaborative partner in developing the National Data Repository (NDR) platform.

Osokey will develop new services which should go live in 2021. The NDR will continue to host information on wellbores, geophysical surveys and petroleum infrastructure, but inputting and accessing information should become easier for users, the OGA said.

This should help with identifying potential subsurface carbon storage sites, with users also able to share and access data that is machine-readable for machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Nic Granger, OGA director of corporate, said that since the NDR’s launch last year, users from industry, government and academic institutions had downloaded more than 500 terabytes of information.
