Landmark reached for arctic FSO handling Prirazlomnoye crude
Total oil volumes shipped by Gazprom Neft in the Russian Arctic has reached ten million metric tons (11 million tons), with the latest 100,000-metric ton (110,231-ton) consignment of light Novy Port oil shipped to customers from the Umba floating storage and offtake (FSO) tanker.
The facility, in the harbour at Kola Bay, receives oil delivered by shuttle tanker from the offshore Prirazlomnoye field and the Novoportovskoye field.
According to Gazprom Neft, the arrangement delivers faster turnaround times, using a standard tanker fleet (instead of ice-reinforced tankers) and through a flexible approach in planning supply volumes.
The FSO has been re-equipped to suit the climatic conditions of the Arctic.
All oil transhipments are undertaken in full compliance with the latest environmental requirements and standards, the company added.
