France enacts ban on oil, gas licensing

The French legislature has passed the ban on oil and gas exploration and production announced earlier this year.

The law aims at halting production in France and its overseas territories by 2040. France produces about 15,000 b/d.

The government will not renew existing licences nor issue new licences for exploration
