Finland reviewing Nord Stream 2 pipeline proposals
Nord Stream 2 AG has applied for permission to construct the twin 1,200-kilometre (745-mile) Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines through the Finnish Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the Baltic Sea.
The pipeline will run for 374 kilometres (232 miles) across the Finnish EEZ, which is in international waters.
Finland’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment will consider the proposals, which include a water permit for construction and operation of the pipeline in Finnish waters.
Permit procedures continue for offshore sections of the pipelines in Russian, Swedish, Danish, and German waters.
