CNOOC begins production at Liuhua 21-2

CNOOC Ltd has started production of Liuhua 21-2 oil field in the eastern South China Sea in water depth of 437 metres.

Along with utilising existing infrastructure, the project included construction of an underwater production system with eight development wells planned in total.

The project is expected to reach peak production of 15,070 b/d of crude oil in 2023. The field recovers associated gas through the light hydrocarbon recovery system to reduce methane emissions, the operator said.

CNOOC is operator with 100% interest.
