BP progressing offshore Australia Ironbark well preparations
BP and its partners have submitted an environment plan to the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) for the Ironbark-1 well site survey.
In February, BP contracted the Diamond Offshore semi-submersible Ocean Apex to drill the Ironbark-1 exploration well off Western Australia. Partner Cue Energy expects drilling to start on the potentially giant gas prospect in late 2020.
In its latest activity review, Cue added that oil production from the Maari and Manaia fields in the Taranaki basin off New Zealand was 16% up on the previous quarter, with all the wells now back online.
At the end of the first quarter production was close to 8,000 b/d, largely due to the installation of a higher-capacity electric submersible pump in the MR6a well and increased water injection.
Tests are in progress to verify the capacity of the water injection system and further optimize the field’s production.
In the Sampang PSC offshore Indonesia, the Ophir Energy-led Sampang joint venture is reviewing a development concept for the Paus Biru gas discovery in order to accelerate gas production from the field.
The partners are also considering further exploration drilling to exploit potential rig availability in the area in 2020.
