Aquaterra to supply solar-powered platform offshore Angola
Aquaterra Energy has won a master engineering and design service agreement from an unnamed supermajor to deliver multiple Sea Swift platforms for deployment offshore Cabinda Province in northern Angola.
Work has already started on the first platform, which will be designed to operate in 75 metres (246 feet) of water over a 20-year production life.
The Sea Swift solution was chosen, Aquaterra said, because the flexible design helps minimise installation times, and can be fabricated in-country.
The first platform will be powered using solar panels. Aquaterra’s engineering and design teams will work alongside an in-country partner to ensure local content delivery and development of a resident engineering skills base.
