Aker BP to drill two North Sea Valhall-area wildcats

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has sanctioned Aker BP’s request to drill two exploration wells in the southern Norwegian North Sea.

The jack-up Maersk Interceptor will drill wells 2/11-12 A and 2/11-12 S in production licence 33, close to the Danish median line and 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) south of the Valhall field.

These will be the eleventh and twelfth wells on the licence since it was awarded in 1969 in licensing round 2-A on the Norwegian shelf.
