Near-shore platform connected for Bahrain re-gasification project
Aqualis Offshore has completed the float-over installation of the REGAS topsides offshore Bahrain.
GS E&C contracted the company to provide engineering and supervision services related to the loadout, transport, and float-over of the topsides for the Bahrain LNG import terminal project.
The 7,000-metric ton (7,716-ton) topsides was mated to the pre-installed 1,800-metric ton (1,984-ton) steel jacket in 17 metres (56 feet) water depth, four kilometres (2.5 miles) offshore Bahrain, under a programme managed by APMC.
Aqualis also engineered and supervised installation of the jacket this May, along with the prior load-out of the jacket at South Korea and the voyage transport to Bahrain.
The topsides, which was fabricated in Thailand, had been loaded onto the Giant 5 barge for subsequent transfer onto the semi-submersible vessel Zhenhua 15 for ‘piggyback’ transport to Bahrain.
Installation of the topsides was completed following the barge offload operation in Bahrain.
