Here is the text of a message sent to Longdown|EIC:
I’m pleased to invite you to download DNV GL’s 2018 Energy Transition Outlook. This suite of reports forecasts shifts in the world energy mix in the lead-up to mid-century, and the implications this will have on the industry.
Our model predicts that oil and gas have an important role to play in the energy transition, meeting a substantial 40% of world energy demand in 2050.
Our Outlook sees gas overtaking oil as the world’s primary energy source in 2026. Natural gas projects, in particular, will receive a significant investment boost over the coming years, with LNG capacity doubling by the late 2040s. Investments will be focused on leaner, more agile developments with shorter lifespans than today.

Greener gases will enter transmission and distribution systems in the lead-up to 2050. Despite this, we forecast that global warming will be well above the 2°C target set out by the COP 21 Paris Agreement on climate change.
With this in mind, I see it as our sector’s responsibility to maintain a sharp focus on decarbonisation, sustainable production, managing cost, and embracing new technologies to secure long-term supply of sustainable and affordable energy.
I hope that this report can support industry dialogue on how we continue this journey and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the trends we have identified.
Best Regards,
