Darren Carr, the unit head of marine at Axis, has left the carrier for Tokio Marine HCC.

 

Hamilton taps Chubb exec for Lloyd’s operations

Hamilton Underwriting, the managing agency of Syndicate 3334 and the Lloyd’s operations of Hamilton Insurance Group, has appointed Neil Lee-Amies as head of treaty.

 

Mr Lee-Amies has more than 30 years of broking and underwriting experience. He joins Hamilton Underwriting from Chubb Insurance Company where he has been employed for nearly 11 years, most recently as head of marine and energy treaty for Chubb Tempest Re following the takeover of Chubb by ACE.

 

Prior to joining Chubb, Mr Lee-Amies was employed at Wurttembergische UK (now Antares Underwriting Services) as marine non-proportional treaty manager/underwriter. His earlier roles include four years as deputy marine excess of loss underwriter at Eagle Star Reinsurance Company.

 

At Hamilton, Lee-Amies will report to active underwriter Miles Osorio. Mr Osorio and Adrian Daws succeeded Trevor Carvey as active underwriter following Mr Carvey’s resignation in February.

 

London market broker Bishopsgate makes new hire from RKH

London market broker Bishopsgate Insurance has appointed Chris Meredew as director UK and international liability, oil and gas and marine trades.

 

Mr Meredew has over 35 years’ experience in the industry and started his career at Furness Houlder then moved onto SBJ Marine & Energy where he worked in the energy division.

 

He then spent 18 years with Windsor. His most recent role was with RKH working on their marine and energy account.

 

Barbican swoops for Chubb cyber specialist

Barbican Insurance Group has appointed Lauren Webb as a class underwriter for cyber within Lloyd’s Syndicate 1955.

 

She joins from Chubb.

 

Smith Joins Miller as Onshore Energy Specialist for North America

Ryanne Smith has joined London-based insurance broker Miller to further strengthen its energy capabilities for North American intermediaries and clients worldwide.

 

Ms Smith specialises in onshore energy. At Miller, she will be working with Daniel Nicholls and Graeme Valentine, focusing on North American oil and gas, midstream, power and utilities and renewable energy.

 

Originally from Houston, Texas, Ms Smith has strong experience of both the US and London markets, having worked as a retailer and marketer in energy for both Marsh and Lockton in Houston and for the Onshore Energy and Structured Credit & Political Risks teams at RKH Specialty in London.

 

Ms Smith will work closely with Miller’s other North American specialists across its breadth of specialist areas.

 

Ex-Lloyd’s CEO Richard Ward joins Ardonagh

The Ardonagh Group has appointed Richard Ward as executive chairman of specialty & international and MGA.

 

Mr Ward, who was Lloyd’s of London between 2006 and 2013, takes on the newly created role on the 10th September this year.

 

Ardonagh detailed that its speciality and international segment is comprised of Bishopsgate and Price Forbes, adding that the MGA segment includes all of the firm’s managing general agent activities.

 

An Ardonagh spokeswoman explained that MGA leader Paul Dilley; Ardonagh wholesale leader and Bishopsgate chairman Gordon Newman; Price Forbes CEO James Masterton and Bishopsgate managing director Neil Pearce will be reporting in to Mr Ward.

 

After leaving Lloyd’s in 2013 Mr Ward has worked at Brit Insurance, Cunningham Lindsey and Sedgwick.

 

He currently sits on the board of Direct Line Group as a non-executive director.
