Lukoil completes Filanovsky horizontal production well in the Caspian Sea

Lukoil has completed commissioning of the first well at the Vladimir Filanovsky Phase 2 field development in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea.

This is a single-bore horizontal production well a measured depth of 3.5 kilometre (2.2 mile), and a 1.2-kilometre (0.75-mile) horizontal section.

Initially, the well flowed 2,400 metric tons/d (2,645 tons/d) of oil, lifting the field’s total output to 16,800 metric tons/d (18,519 tons/d).

Lukoil has since started drilling an injection well.

Phase 2 facilities include a fixed ice resistant platform and an accommodation block platform, while construction of a wellhead platform for Phase 3 started last year.

All the offshore facilities have been built by Russian shipyards.
