XL Catlin appoints MacColl as global hull leader

XL Catlin has promoted Mike MacColl to the position of global practice leader for hull.

 

Mr MacColl previously served as the carrier’s head of hull for the UK. He succeeds Mike Talbot, who is retiring after a professional career spanning 50 years.

 

Prior to joining XL Catlin, he held several positions at Talbot. He is an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, and has been a member of the Joint Hull Committee at Lloyd’s since 2016.

 

BRG hires former general counsel of ExxonMobil captive

Berkeley Research Group (BRG) has appointed Christopher Heckman to the firm’s complex insurance claims practice as managing director, based in Da

llas.

 

Mr Heckman previously served as general counsel of ExxonMobil Risk Management and its captive insurer, Ancon Insurance Company.

 

For the past 25 years, he was principle insurance claims advisor to ExxonMobil and its global affiliates.

 

Mr Heckman managed and facilitated large liability insurance claims, including the Exxon Valdez and global environmental and asbestos claims of Exxon, Mobil and ExxonMobil.

 

Miller recruits from Howden and Ironshore to drive growth in Asia

Miller has recruited two senior executives in Singapore to help drive growth in Asia – one from Ironshore and one from Howden.

 

John Moncavage will lead Miller’s credit and political risks initiative in the Asia Pacific region. He joins from Ironshore in Singapore, where he was head of trade credit & political risks Asia.

 

Piers Hughes was formerly head of reinsurance for Howden based in Bangkok. He will work closely with the property, casualty and energy teams in Singapore and London to help strengthen its client offering and drive revenue growth in Asia. His areas of focus will include property, terrorism, downstream energy and engineering.
