Gazprom in frame for Iran-Oman gas line

Gazprom could participate in the construction of the offshore/onshore gas export pipeline between Iran-Oman, according to Iranian news service Shana.

In an article in Gazprom’s house magazine, Iranian Deputy Petroleum Minister and Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Ali Kardor said that NIOC and Gazprom were considering joint implementation of various new projects, including Iran LNG, Farzad-A, and Farzad-B, North Pars.

“Besides, there has been huge interest in the prospects of the joint construction of Iran-Pakistan-India and Iran-Oman gas pipelines,” he added.

In November, Gazprom and NIOC signed a memorandum of understanding into a study concerning a co-operation in the development of gas fields in Iran, gas transportation and monetization.

During December, Gazprom, NIOC and Iran’s Oil Industry Pension, Saving and Staff Welfare Fund signed a further MoU on the proposed Iran LNG project, the first phase of which could provide capacity of 5.25 MM metric tons/yr (5.8 MM tons/yr).

The Iran-Oman gas pipeline project is expected to connect Iran’s gas reserves with Omani consumers and LNG plants so that Oman could re-export the gas, Shana added.
