Ocean Winds and Aker team-up for ScotWind bids
Ocean Winds and Aker Offshore Wind have submitted joint bids for Crown Estate Scotland’s ScotWind process for new commercial-scale offshore wind farms, covering several locations in the Outer Moray Firth.
The partners propose use of floating devices to deliver 6,000 MW of energy, which they say would constitute the UK’s largest wind energy development to date.
They would deploy steel-based semi-submersible floaters based on Principle Power Inc’s ‘WindFloat’ technology.
Ocean Winds has developed the 950-MW Moray East wind farm. Aker Solutions established Aker Offshore Wind last year to transfer the company’s maritime experience and technologies to the low-carbon energy sector.
