Neptune gets nod to drill North Sea prospect
Oil and gas company Neptune Energy has received consent from Norwegian authorities for exploration drilling in the North Sea, using an Odfjell Drilling-owned rig.
The Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) said on the 6th September that it has given Neptune Energy consent for exploration drilling of well 33/6-6 S and 33/6-6 A at the Shamu prospect.
The exploration well is located in block 33/6 in production licence 882. The licence is operated by Neptune with Concedo, Idemitsu Petroleum, and Petrolia NOCO as partners.
The well will be drilled using the Deepsea Yantai semi-submersible drilling rig. The water depth at the site is 311 metres and drilling operations are estimated to last for a minimum of 32 days.
