Saipem to debut SUISO on Agnes offshore energy hub
Saipem has introduced a technology which can be used to power green hydrogen production, including on offshore platforms.
SUISO combines renewable energy sources such as floating wind, floating solar, and marine energy in a single system.
Together or individually, these can power electrolysers installed on existing offshore platforms for production of green hydrogen. These could be facilities undergoing conversion after having reached the end of their life-cycle as oil and gas installations.
Oxygen resulting from this process can be harnessed for various areas uses, including aquaculture or seaweed production.
SUISO’s first application is the Agnes offshore energy hub which Saipem and QINT’X plan to construct off the coast of Ravenna, eastern Italy.
